It is a relatively small herbaceous plant that is used in cooking as a dressing for stews and soups, it came to South America through Peru from the United Kingdom where it is also called, galinsoga or soldiers of the queen.
In Colombia it is used as a spice herb for Ajiaco, which is a very famous potato soup dish from the center of the country, although it is also used as an ingredient for salads.
